DEFENCE
Land 121
Since 2015 Ashburner Francis has been performing engineering services for the Electrical, Mechanical, Wet Fire, Hazardous Area Assessment and ESD design for the Land 121 Government Defence project.
Land 121 involves the master planning, design, and delivery of support facilities for the new generation fleet of protected and non-protected Defence vehicles at numerous Defence Force bases in almost every state of Australia. Our involvement has been from the master planning phase, right through to defects liability stage. We produced fully detailed design documentation for “construct only” services subcontracts under the direction of Lendlease as Managing Contractor, BVN as architect, JACOBS as PMCA, and Department of Defence as the client.
Buildings included in this project include Offices, Workshops, Q-Stores, Replacement Parts Stores, Shower & Locker buildings, Vehicle Shelters, Weighbridges, Wash Points, Tank Wash Facilities, Fuel Points, and Fire Tank Shelters. Upgrade of base infrastructure such as high voltage electrical services and fire mains were also required to support these new facilities.
The project was completed in Revit 3D, with Ashburner Francis producing LOD300 Revit & Navisworks models for regular consultant design coordination sessions. The resultant of this was a fully coordinated architectural model which included all services and structure, from which the architect was able to produce accurate 2D reflected ceiling plans, floor plans, elevations and sections that included all services in their precise “for construction” positions.
